KPPC orders 15 Internal floating roofs
CTS has received an order for 15 internal floating roofs in diameters ranging from 12m to
46m at the KPPC new Aromatic complex in Kuwait. The roofs are planned to be to be delivered and installed during the second
half of 2007. For more information on our internal floating roofs click here
The new KPPC new Aromatic complex in Kuwait is built for the production of 768,000 t/y of paraxylene and
325,000 t/y of benzene. The Italian E&C company Tecnimont (Maire Tecnimont Group), in
consortium with the Korean SK Engineering and Construction Co. Ltd, has been awarded the contract for the realisation of this impressive complex.
The owner of the facillity is the Kuwait Paraxylene Production Company (KPPC), controlled by
Companies in the Petrochemical Industries of Kuwait.
The contract will be executed by the
consortium under the leadership of Tecnimont and covers the supply of engineering,
equipment and materials, construction and assistance during the commissioning.
The internal floating roofs will be designed according to API 650 Appendix H and will meet
the latest international emission reduction requirements governed in the USA (under EPA
regulations) and Europe (under several legislating efforts, where the latest of these are
documented under the BREF guidelines for storage tanks).
Part of the roofs ordered will be executed as aluminium direct contact roofs consisting of seal
welded and factory pressure tested roof modules. Under the requirements of NFPA 11 these roofs only require
protection for rim fires. Under the project agreement CTS will also submit emission calculations for
the tanks involved. These calculations will document the compliance of the floating roofs to the strictest
standards worldwide.
With this contract CTS considerably expands its installed base in the Middle-East,
where in this region we, among others, earlier completed projects for KNPC (Kuwait), ADMA OPCO (UAE), Takreer (UAE), NIOC and
NIGC (Iran)
