HER Refinery Hamburg, Germany orders 3 CTS internal floaters for Ethanol project:

Just before the end of the year the HER refinery in Hamburg has ordered 3 CTS internal floaters. This being the result of the quest for lower emissions under the demanding requirements imposed by the recently revised German TA-Luft standards. As the CTS internal floaters have proven to comply with this standard and all other relevant standards, the HER refinery decided to fit their Ethanol tanks with these internal floating roofs, reducing emissions by at least 97%.

The limited availability of oil has supported a drive for so-called bio-fuels within the European Community . These bio fuels exist partially of biological components, such as Ethanol. This project is the direct result of this development, resulting in more requirement for Ethanol storage within the stringent emission standards .

CTS has an extensive track record in using aluminium products (both internal floating roofs as well as dome roofs) in Alcohol storage, having nearly 200 Internal Floating Roofs in Alcohol-service, either for Methanol (being the more corrosive product) or Ethanol storage. This was one of the main reasons for CTS being selected as a supplier on this project. The project is scheduled for completion early 2005.
