Vopak Amsterdam terminal contract for domes and internal floating roofs awarded to CTS
Vopak has recently decided to build a new storage terminal for oil products in the Port of Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Construction of the first phase represents 20 new tanks with a total volume of 620,000 cubic meters and diameters of 48 meter (11 tanks) and 34 meter (9 tanks). The total terminal capacity is planned to be increased to more than 1.1 million cubic meters for the storage and blending of gasoline and other clean oil products. CTS has been selected to supply the domes and full contact internal floating roofs for this landmark project.
Why aluminium domes and internal floating roofs for these 20 new tanks?
Very important when storing these amounts off volatile hydrocarbons such as gasoline and gasoline blending components is to ensure minimum evaporation is accomplished, for environmental reasons and to reduce product losses as a result of any evaporation.
In recent years aluminium dome roof tanks equipped with internal floating roofs have developed as the preferred storage tank design representing minimum emissions and very low maintenance costs. They also reduce water content for products stored inside these large tanks. It goes without saying that also safety aspects are meeting the most stringent standards, as this is of paramount importance as well for the storage tank industry.
Since becoming an independent supplier for these systems in 2004 CTS (and CTS Netherlands as its largest operating company) has developed itself to a global leader in the field of specific products and systems for storage tanks. For this reason and based on the excellent track record on previous projects for Vopak, the contractors involved on Vopak Amsterdam in conjunction with Vopak have selected CTS as contractor for supplying and installing the aluminium domes and aluminium full contact internal floating roofs for their project, representing the best possible technology in realising new storage tanks.
The order value for this project represents a value well in excess of 15 million US Dollars, and CTS will realize the project within 2010 and 2011.
